| | The experiments are based on an
instrument, currently located at beamline 11 at the Advanced Light
source (ALS) in Berkeley, California. The instrument consists of two UHV
chambers. The preparation chamber is designed for sample
preparation and characterization. It is equipped with an ion
gun, LEED optics, a mass spectrometer and an FTIR
spectrometer. The analysis chamber is equipped with a Scienta
SES-100 electron spectrometer and a partial yield detector. In
the near future the endstation will be equipped with a newly
developed X-ray spectrometer and a high pressure gas cell.
| | The instrument is designed to perform X-ray
Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray
Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS) and X-ray
Emission Spectroscopy (XES) on adsorbates.
