NTT/NOT Spectral SN Library

This web page presents the spectral library in
"NTT and NOT spectroscopy of SDSS-II supernovae"
Östman, Nordin, Goobar et al. 2011.
Astronomy and astrophysics, Volume 526, A28.
Pre-print: arXiv:1011.5869

    Data format

  • Non-galaxy subtracted spectra
    Fits files with 10 columns:
    1. Flux corrected for telluric absorption
    2. Raw - background fit, weights none, clean no
    3. Background - background fit
    4. Noise (sigma - background fit, weights variance, clean yes)
    5. Observed wavelength (Ångström)
    6. Uncertainty estimate of the telluric corrections
    7. Noise + telluric uncertainty
    8. Flux with correction for telluric absorption and Milky Way absorption
    9. Uncertainty estimate of Milky Way absorption correction
    10. Noise + telluric uncertainty + Milky Way uncertainty
We suggest you use the wavelength in column 5, the flux in column 8 and the uncertainty of column 10.

  • Galaxy subtracted spectra
    Ascii files with 5 columns:
    1. Observed wavelength (Ångström)
    2. Galaxy subtracted flux (scaled)
    3. Flux uncertainty
    4. Fitted host galaxy
    5. Fitted polynomial (reddening + differencial slit loss)
The fits are made between 4000 and 6500 Å.
Note that galaxy subtracted spectra only exist for a subset of the complete sample.

    Tables from the paper

  • Table A1: Observational information
Telescope, slit width, exposure time, airmass, seeing

  • Table A2: Spectroscopic typing and redshift determination.
official typing, redshift, age from lightcurve,
typing, epoch determination, redshift determination from SNID.

  • Table A3: Spectral quality.
estimations of host-galaxy contamiation and slit loss due to atmospheric refraction (prior to subtraction).
