Emma's Homepage

Welcome to my homepage! Here you can find information about my teaching and research in the Quantum and field theory group (kof) at Fysikum , Stockholm University.

Latest news:

I januari anordnades en inspirationskväll för gymnasieelever och andra på Fysikum. Jag gav då ett kort populärvetenskapligt föredrag om kvantfysik med titeln Den magiska kvantvärlden.

I currently teach on the introductory course on mechanics - see link to web page below.

New paper on how to realize different phases of matter in 1D optical lattices by tuning the interaction parameters: Fractional domain walls from on-site softening in dipolar bosons

In late July/early August I attended the "Physics by the lake" summer school in England. Have a look at my contribution to the poster session.

Teaching

During the academic year 2011/2012 I am responsible for the introductory evening course Kvantfysikens principer. On the course web page you'll find all sorts of information about the lectures, exercise sessions etc. The web page for last year's exercise sessions is found here.

I also give the exercise sessions on the third-year course on quantum physics for students on Fysiklinjen, Kvantmekanik II , as well as tutorials on the first-year course Mekanik.

Research

Main topic: Fractional quantum Hall effect.

On April 28 2009 I defended my licentiate thesis, with the title 'Non-abelian quantum Hall states on the thin torus' (see also the papers below). You can have a look at the pdf version of my talk.

Paper on new CDW states and fractionally charged domain walls in 1D optical lattices (written in 2011 together with Jonas Larson, Emil J. Bergholtz and my supervisor Anders Karlhede: arxiv:1109.3384v1
Paper on a spin-1/2 description of bosons at \nu=1 (written in 2009 together with Emil and Anders): arXiv:0903.4093v2
Paper about non-abelian quantum Hall states (written in 2008 together with Eddy Ardonne, Emil and Janik): arXiv:0802.0675v1
Paper on the pfaffian Moore-Read state on the thin torus (written in 2006 together with Anders, Hans Hansson, Emil and Janik Kailasvuori): arXiv:cond-mat/0604251v2

Master's thesis on 'Exploring Exotic Quantum Hall States Using Exact Diagonalization' (2006).
