Title: A last stand before MAP – Current status on CMB observations

Abstract: The Microwave Anisotropy Probe (MAP), aimed at measuring the cosmic microwave background radiation (CMB), will release its first year data on February 11. I will here give an overview of what we can expect to learn from CMB measurements and summarize the current status of other experiments before MAP.
