Detector geometry 2: AMANDA B with 4 strings
Based on laser measurements only, pinned down in an absolute
reference frame by the position of hole 2 and by the angle
between grid north and the axis defined by holes2-3.

Detector geoemtry 5: AMANDAB10_24APR98.GEO
From the intro of that file:
Geometry file for the four string AMANDA B detector.
Coordinates in AMANDA system (centered on string 4, OM 10), unit: meters.
First line: number of OMs in list (non-functioning OMs removed).
For each OM: rel. OM nr. (1-86) ; string nr ; OM nr in string.
OM x coordinate ; OM y coordinate ; OM z coordinate.
OM x direction ; OM y direction ; OM z direction
OM alpha value ; OM t0 value
Based on drill positioning analysis and on surface positions as given
by ASA surveyor's '97 blueprint except for hole 4 which is given by
the '96 survey.
t0s and alphas slightly modified according to Eduardo Andre's muon-data
calibration.
This file is based on the 4 string geometry where 6 strings have been
added. The positions of those are the ones surveyed at the surface and
the depths are based upon the pressure sensor measurements at deployment.
t0 and alphas are the best guess at this moment.
970919:
The release of new coordinates for strings 5-10 changed according to the
log-files have been implemented.
Also, dead tubes in the first 4 strings have coordinates now, but all
other entries, nx,ny,nz,t0 alpha are all -1 for those oms.
Have shifted the z-coordintes of the 6 new strings upwards with
19,26,26,25,26,12 meters respectively.
Have also replaced the t0 and alpha values with the preliminary
numbers from the 97-98 season calibration.
Patrik Ekstrom 1998-04-01.
Replaced alpha values from sm main daq with 0.72*(sm timing daq values).
Patrik Ekstrom 1998-04-03.
Replaced alpha values with 0.8*(sm timing daq values).
Also switched so that mtd LE are prefered before std and lastly smd.
Patrik Ekstrom 1998-04-07.
Changed the t0 and alpha values to the official release version as of
1998-04-15.
Detector geoemtry 6: AMANDAB10_18MAY98.GEO
Changed the t0 and alpha values to the version as of
1998-05-07.
NEW GEOMETRY RELEASE 24 AUGUST 1998:
The new geometry has been combined with the t0:s of 15th April 1998 in
Detector geoemtry 7: amandaB10_24aug98_i.geo
and with t0:s of 7th May 1998 in
Detector geoemtry 8: amandaB10_24aug98_ii.geo
Information about this geometry, from the release:
The program string-xyz_1.3 builds the geometry of strings 5-10.
This file contains the coordinates of string no. 5 to 10
The xy coordinates are based on the analysis of the drill log data
and the interstring analysis by Kurt Woschnagg.
The drill analysis is described in a note from July 1997, Matt Carlsson, UW
Details of the interstring analysis can be found on Kurt's homepage.
The original z-coordinates are based on Pressure sensor data and
the deployment log. Problems and uncertainties are discussed
in a separate note from July 1997, A. Karle, UW
Corrections to the z-coordinates have been applied according to the laser analysis.
The depth of the OMs is given as the absolute depth with respect
to the surface level of string 4, as well as with respect to
the depth 1730 m, which is the depth zero in the local system.
About the coordinates of the 4 inner strings:
This was the original geometry based on drill data and Adam Bouchtas laser analysis. Then several corrections are applied. 1. Vertical corrections according to the z-offsets as derived
by Kurt Woschnaggs interstring analysis
http://amanda.berkeley.edu/kurt/interstring/
2. A correction is applied to satisfy the new Olson survey
3. The Olson survey is moved in the original coordinate system
4. The xy-string positions are corrected to take into account
the interstring analysis
A weighted fit between drill (center of gravity) position
and the laser results defines the xy-corrections
Original xy + ((weighted fit of laser and drill-cog) - drill cog)
Various numbers are printed out for diagnostics.
Use this program together with string-xyz_1.3.c for the
to obtain the full 10 string geometry
