Gender equality

Gender equality is pursued actively at the department in order to guarantee a good workplace climate for both women and men. How gender equality is persued is described in the gender equality plan of the department, Fysikums jämställdhetsplan [in Swedish] (adopted by the department board 2010-12-16).

The department has a plan of action in case of sexual harassment (adopted 2005-12-15). that can be downloaded as a pdf-file.

The equal opportunities committee supervises the gender equality work and updates the gender equality plan. At present the committee has the following members:

- convener Henning Schmidt (associate professor)
- departmental equal opportunities representative Barbro Åsman (professor)
- equal opportunities representative for PhD-students Joel Johansson
- equal opportunities representative for undergraduate students Sebastian Liem
- Kate Blanchfield (PhD-student)
- Hillka Jonsson (administrator)
- Alvin Gavel (student)

Every year since 2005 there has been a survey made among students in their second year, to monitor workplace climate and incidence of harassment. The survey form and the results of the survey can be found here [in Swedish].
