Stockholm University invites applications for a permanent position as lecturer
in physics. The holder of the position will teach in the graduate and/or postgraduate
program at the Department of Physics and perform research in accelerator based
elementary particle physics.
The research group
The group is involved in the D0 experiment at FNAL and in ATLAS at CERN. The
involvement in D0 analysis centres on studies of the top-quark, while the hardware
contribution to the experiment is related to the silicon vertex detector. In
ATLAS we have, together with the group for System and Instrumentation Physics,
responsibility for the development of the digitising electronics for the TILE
hadron calorimeter, and part of the first level trigger processors. Stockholm
University is one of the nodes in the NORDUGRID project, and we will continue
to participate in the development and deployment of HEP applications in a GRID
environment.
At LEP the group was involved in searches for beyond the Standard Model physics,
notably Higgs and Supersymmetry. Together with studies of the topquark these
topics will form the core of the future work in ATLAS.
The Applicant.
The applicant is required to hold a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in High Energy Physics,
to have followed pedagogical courses targeted at university level and to have
demonstrated pedagogical skills (dispensation from the requirement on pedagogical
courses can be granted provided that the applicant clearly states an intention
to engage in locally arranged courses). Equal weight will be given to pedagogical
and scientific merits in the screening process. Experience of physics analysis
in an accelerator based particle physics experiment is an asset.
The successful candidate is expected to play an important role in preparation
for analysis of physics data from the ATLAS experiment at the LHC and supervision
of PhD students.
The Application.
The application should be written in English and contain:
At most 20 publications (numbered as on the list) may be quoted to support the application. The publications should not be submitted with the application. When the review board has been appointed the applicants will be requested to send these publications to the board members.
The application should arrive, quoting the reference number SU612-0762-03 no later than 5 May 2003. The application should be mailed to
Stockholms universitet
Registrator/PÄ
SE-106 91 Stockholm
Sweden
Applications can also be sent by e-mail to registrator@adm.su.se, or faxed to +46 8 163866. In such a case a signed paper-copy to the address above will also have to be submitted.
The University particularly welcomes applications from women, since at present
a majority of the lecturers at the Department of Physics are male.
Any demand to be employed at the level of professor should be explicitly stated
in the application.
